their love cups

with a new little one arriving soon, i am paying alot of attention to my children's love-cups. are they full? are they getting enough cuddle time with mommie? are they getting enough wrestling and flipping with daddy? are they being chased, tickled, and read to? its time to leave the dirty dishes in the sink and crumbs on the floor...and cuddle with my babies.

i highly recommend the book One Thousand Gifts. it is {maybe} the best book i have ever read...because it is changing me, slowing me down, teaching me the learned skill of being thankful. it has been cool to see that somehow God has got George on that same journey...with a desire to slow down, be at home, and relish in this time when our kids are so small, needy, and OBSESSED with us...it wont be like that forever. do less. play more.

reserve it at your library, order it online, or run into your nearest bookstore and START READING IT... i'm an underliner, a write-in-the-margin reader... here are some of my favorites:

"thanks is what multiplies the joy and makes any life large and i hunger for it." pg 48

"in this counting gifts, to one thousand, more, i discover that slapping a sloppy brush of thanksgiving over everything in my life leaves me deeply thankful for very few things in my life." pg 57

"the slower the living, the greater the sense of fullness and satisfaction." pg 76
