love

george and i found out that we were parents on valentines day 2008. we found out that there was a baby berre already forming in me. wow. i love to love. and needless to say, i love valentines day. we think of 1 corinthians chapter 13 as a perfect chapter for a wedding, but look at how perfect it is for parenting:

Love is patient,
love is kind.
love does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
Love is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

i already hear myself saying things over and over and over to river...be patient river...dont whine...be gentle...obey mommie river
what if the things that i said over and over and over to him were TRUTH?! real TRUTH from the bible?!

when he is whining while i am making dinner...
love is patient. be patient river

when he is interacting with the new baby...
love is kind, be kind to the baby

when he wants what others have...
love does not envy, be satisfied with what you have

when he is an arrogant teenager...
love does not boast, it is not proud

when he tattle-tales...
love keeps no record of wrongs

when he needs to take up for someone...
love always protects

when he doesnt feel like loving someone...
love always perseveres

when he doubts our love for him...
love never fails and we will always love you
